I Am a Writer

Sunshine paints a smile on my face
Reminding me to get on that chair
Continue pounding on the computer

Seeing the subject and verb agree
It's like fantasy meets reality
Writing, indeed, is my fascination

Ideas rush into my brain
Sometimes, they visit me on wee hours
I had to tell them to wait so I can capture everything

Crazy as it seems like
But that's how a writer lives
At least that's how mine is

Unfinished articles and untitled pieces
Some old finished manuscript waiting to be published
They crowd my private space

When creativity calls
I've got to drop everything
To respond to that call

I am a writer
The world needs me
Not just to chronicle events but to make history

Best Man (I Think): Ten years ago, Richard made a decision na you know the next girlfriend will be the woman I'd like to marry. So, he stood by his decision and ah... he fervently prayed for his future wife. And after so many years of waiting, after so many years of scouting, praying, he finally found the... the woman of his dreams and the answer to his prayers.

Maricar: You are God's unexpected answer to so many of my prayers. And by faith, I know that this desire in my heart to be one with you comes from God. And I thank Him for the grace. It's only by His grace will I be able to fulfill all these vows to you. I love you so much.

        Moved. Challenged. Empowered.

                  Back to zero. Back to square one. To some people, it's quite terrifying or annoying. To me, it's an exciting path. New strategy. New pasture. New life.

                Going back to square one is like reengineering for me. I used to hate that thought, but I realized being open to changes is a great thing to start with. Being open to changes means being open to beautiful surprises. Detours appeal to me since then.

          I’ve fallen in love many times in my life but never did I understand why I love and how love really is. As I share this story with you, I’m grateful because God made me realize this early on in my life.

          Many times in my life, I’ve achieved my dreams because I said yes. It doesn’t matter if it’s a small or big dream. When I was a young teenager, I watched beauty pageants and dreamed of joining one. But I had one problem, I felt so small and ugly. So, I never mustered the courage to raise my hand and say, “I’m joining.”

What's Your Story?

It was another day in the office, and so I thought. I had the privilege to speak with a colleague at work. I say a privilege because we don't normally talk to each other like we had one chanced evening. He didn't have any work to do, so I started a conversation with him. I thought it will just be same old conversation I would have.

Follow What God Wants You to Do

         There are times when I have to discern important stuff in my life. I would go to a quiet place and reflect, and I talk to God. I read His word. I talk to my close friends and ask for their perspective.  I ask some people who are experts on the subject matter.  I even ask my parents to some extent. I would research as if it's something I could search in Google or Wikipedia. But for some reasons, I still don't get it.

        Since I witnessed how moving the Hillsong's worship concert was in 2010, I decided to make it a point to be in the worship concert if it fell on April, my birth month, as my birthday gift to myself.

           I am a fan of statement shirts, and there was this statement shirt that said, "Making Jesus Famous". It captured my heart. It was a black shirt. I bought it right away. To me, it wasn't just a simple shirt, it became my mission statement. 

Love at First Sight

            I was a young teenager, and a man told me that he’s in love with me. I was shocked, and perplexed. I asked myself, “How could you love me if I’m not even beautiful?” And so I thought. That was when I thought I was really ugly. I was so insecure, but this man was so certain that he’s in love with me.

My Goals for 2012

I prefer to call them goals than new year's resolution because I want to nail them down, and be accountable to achieving them.


1. I want to spend more time with God first thing in the morning when I wake up by reading the bible, praying, and listening to His message for my life.

101 Reasons Why I’m Blessed

I’d like to thank God, every person, every situation, every little thing in my life because they’re the very reasons why I’m blessed. Good or bad, they’re all part of God’s plan for my life.  My life is not perfect, but there’s one truth that I hold on to: “God is always in control.”

Faith Can Move Mountains

Lord, it's so easy to give up especially when things don't go my way.

It's so easy to doubt and to fear when all I see is darkness.

It's so easy not to dream anymore when things go wrong.

It's so easy to let go when I feel that I have all the reasons to.

I have a choice to give up the race but I choose not to. 

An Easter Reflection

            When I was a kid, I didn’t really understand the essence of Easter. Some kids would look forward to the Easter Egg Hunt while I understood that it’s part of the Lenten Season. That’s it and nothing else!
